Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if it’s a good fit?

The relationship with your therapist is so important! Finding a therapist you really feel a connection with is the foundation of productive therapy. It typically takes about 3 sessions to determine if we are a good match.

How much does therapy cost?

I charge $160 for 50 minute sessions and $240 for 90 minute sessions. I offer several sliding scale spots to those with financial barriers and am happy to discuss.

How often do I need to go to therapy?

We can feel out what is best and realistically works for you in a pressure free environment. Some clients prefer longer 90 minute sessions every week, some clients come every other week for 50 minute sessions. I recommend people come weekly for at least the first month before discussing what schedule works moving forward. Therapy is a process that takes time and consistent work.

What is Contemplative Psychotherapy?

Contemplative psychotherapy is based on the idea that people already have what they need to connect with their inherent wisdom and compassion. It's an optimistic approach that helps clients develop confidence in their own sanity. Contemplative psychotherapy differs from other counseling methods in that therapists bring qualities of mindfulness and compassion to the therapeutic relationship. It's based on the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, which emphasizes simplicity, compassion, and insight. Contemplative psychotherapy can be used to treat almost any psychological problem, unlike other therapies that are mainly used for certain mental disorders.

What if I need to cancel my session?

If you’re unable to make it to a session, I ask that you cancel at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel with less than 24-hours notice, you will be responsible for the full cost of the session. I understand life/emergencies happen and am as flexible as possible to accommodate for this.
